Intellectual Property Protection
Every screenplay belongs to its creator.
Write Worth does not claim ownership, co-ownership, copyright, or any intellectual property rights over the content uploaded to our platform. We simply provide the technology that connects writers with producers, buyers, studios, and investors.
Our role is to facilitate discovery while respecting the rights of every creator.
Screenplay Ownership
When you upload your screenplay to Write Worth:
You retain full ownership and copyright.
You grant Write Worth a limited license to display your screenplay listing, including your title, logline, synopsis, genre, and any sample pages you choose to make available.
You remain free to update, unlist, or remove your screenplay at any time, subject to any active licensing or purchase agreements already in place.
Your story remains yours until you choose to license or sell it.
Secure Access & Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
Creative work deserves appropriate protection.
To promote responsible screenplay evaluation:
Buyers must agree to the Write Worth Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before accessing protected screenplay materials.
Writers may upload their own custom NDA where additional protections are required.
Every NDA acceptance is securely timestamped and recorded for accountability.
These safeguards help create confidence for writers while giving legitimate buyers a clear and professional review process.
Responsible Buyer & Producer Conduct
Write Worth welcomes producers, production companies, investors, studios, and content buyers who are committed to ethical business practices.
Buyers are expected to:
Verify their identity where required.
Accept Write Worth's Legal Terms and applicable NDAs.
Review screenplays solely for evaluation, negotiation, or acquisition purposes.
Respect the intellectual property rights of every writer.
Professional buyers are valuable members of our creative community, and we strive to make screenplay discovery both efficient and secure.
Fair Marketplace Standards
To maintain a trusted marketplace, every user agrees to:
Act honestly and professionally.
Respect intellectual property rights.
Communicate in good faith during negotiations.
Avoid fraudulent, misleading, or abusive conduct.
Write Worth reserves the right to suspend or remove accounts that violate these standards in order to protect the integrity of the platform.
Copyright & Plagiarism Policy
Write Worth maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism and copyright infringement.
If a writer believes their work has been used without authorization, we may assist by providing:
Screenplay access records
NDA acceptance history
Platform activity logs where applicable
Guidance on available reporting and legal options
Where misuse is confirmed, Write Worth may suspend accounts, remove offending content, and cooperate with lawful investigations where appropriate.
Submission Responsibilities
By uploading content to Write Worth, writers confirm that:
They are the original creator or authorized rights holder.
They have the legal authority to list the screenplay.
Their submission does not violate any copyright, confidentiality agreement, employment agreement, or third-party rights.
Their content complies with applicable laws and platform policies.
Users who intentionally submit stolen, fraudulent, or plagiarized material may have their accounts permanently suspended.
Privacy & Data Security
Your privacy matters.
Write Worth uses industry-standard security practices to help protect user information and screenplay files.
We are committed to handling personal data responsibly and in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA).
This includes:
Secure storage of screenplay files and user information.
Encrypted transmission of sensitive data where applicable.
Private screenplay files accessible only to authorized users who have met the required access conditions.
Never selling users' personal information to third parties.
Transactions & Licensing
Write Worth provides a platform for screenplay discovery, negotiations, licensing, and purchases.
Unless otherwise stated in a separate written agreement between the parties:
Purchasing access to a screenplay does not automatically transfer copyright ownership.
Ownership transfers or licensing arrangements become effective only through mutually accepted contractual agreements.
Both writers and buyers are encouraged to clearly define ownership, licensing scope, payment terms, and usage rights before completing any transaction.
Governing Law
Write Worth Legal forms part of the Write Worth Platform Terms and is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Unless otherwise required by applicable law, disputes arising from the use of the platform shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in Lagos State, Nigeria.
